  10. PASS AND I.D. VERIFICATION • Badges will be issued • After ammo offload • Must watch SY videos prior to receiving badges • Contact LT Starcovich (J-7005) for any badge issues • If you lose or forget your badge • Can get a temporary badge at NNSY Pass and ID office • Do not attempt to double up through turnstiles or pass your badge to someone else to use • NNSY Security will take you in to custody if caught • You will be subject to disciplinary action

I-Division/School of Ship • Your first twp weeks onboard will be spent in I-Division • I-Division is a our re-vamped school of ship program for new check-ins. • All personnel E-6 and below are required to complete this course. • There is a 5 day Indoc for Fleet Returnees and Khakis – currently in implementation phase • Once you have completed all required courses, you will be turned over to your parent department.

  16. AIRPORTS • There are 2 international airports in Hampton Roads. • Norfolk International • Newport News/Williamsburg International There are USO’s at both airports. They are usually open from 0700-2200 depending on flight schedules. Norfolk International Airport military help desk can be reached at 757-444-3040

  17. TAXI • Fares originating from Norfolk International are approx.$2.65 per mile • Naval Station Norfolk: $30 ( KEEP RECEIPTS)

  22. Hotel Reimbursement • You may not be reimbursed for a hotel booked using an online booking agent (orbitz, travelocity, etc.) UNLESS an itemized receipt from the hotel is also provided. The receipt from your online reservations will no longer be considered a valid receipt. Additionally, you cannot submit a "lost receipt" statement as a replacement for the online booking receipt. Travel Pay Services is now sending a detailed travel voucher summary via email to all military PCS travelers who provide a valid and legible email address on their DD 1351-2.  This feature allows travelers to see what has been paid on their travel voucher, as soon as their voucher has been processed. Be sure to provide a valid email address on your future DD 1351-2 submissions!

Child Care • The NS Norfolk Child Development Center (CDC) has a full-time child care program for children 6 weeks through five years of age, including a Preschool and Pre Kindergarten. • You can reach the CDC at 757-444-3379. • The CDC is open Monday through Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.

Schools • To Enroll your child in licensed child care or school you must have proof of immunizations against a number of contagious diseases • Children entering K-7th grade must: • Submit birth certificate • Have had a complete physical within the past 12 months • Be age five on or before 30 September of the enrollment year.

  37. SPOUSES • What to do if you Get Married En route? If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your command and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures from your chain of command to the personnel office.

DECALS • Base stickers • Navy has discontinued use of base stickers • NNSY may still requires base stickers • Do not scrape stickers off vehicle until further notice • If have new vehicle, you must get a 30 Day temporary pass at NNSY Pass and ID • Pedestrian crossing • You must stop for all pedestrians in a crosswalk • Must present your CAC card for entry into a SY gate. Your red badge alone is insufficient.

LOAN CLOSET • Items Available Items available include tri-fold mattresses, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, irons, ironing boards, coffee pots, folding tables and chairs, pack and plays, highchairs, strollers, and car seats. • How to Borrow Fleet and Family Support Centers of Hampton Roads provides household items to relocating personnel on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders while waiting for their household goods to arrive. Service members must have the following to borrow items:

LOAN CLOSET PCS orders • Military I.D. • Local address & phone number • Command address & phone number A contract is filled out identifying what items have been borrowed. The conditions of contract will be explained then the contract will be signed and dated by the service member or family member. Items are loaned out for a two (2) week period to a maximum of 60 days. If extensions are needed you must either call or come by the FFSC. For emergency use, service member must present an ID card and local address. FFSC Norfolk does not take reservations or hold items, so please call in advance for item availability 757-444-2102.
