WG 1: OBJECTIVES • GENERAL OBJECTIVE : “To work on the possibilities of Collective Bargaining to socially manage the phenomena of business restructuring and to introduce new flexible formulas in the organization of work that will allow companies to be more competitive and will permit a better quality of employment.” Plenary Session - Equal Transnational Network ADAPTABILITY*4

WG 1: OBJECTIVES • SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: • Exchange of alternative solutions to crisis or business closures in the different national projects in specific sectors of activity • Analysis of the main causes of industrial restructuring, the affected sectors and the consequences for employment in each of the three countries that have taken part in this workshop. Also, an analysis of its impact, in relation with gender equality, and the diverse consequences for women and men • Analysis of the possibilities of Collective Bargaining to introduce flexible formulas of work: improvement of competitiveness and quality of employment, and also regarding Gender Equality • Proposals and design of formulas or solutions through the exchange of experiences • Elaboration of a compilation report about the Work Group achievement Plenary Session - Equal Transnational Network ADAPTABILITY*4

WG 1: WORKSHOPS CARRIED OUT • Workshop 1: in Pamplona (Spain), 17th November 2005 • Presentation of structure and methodology of WG 1 • Outlining common interests of the participant DPs • Presentation and debate on the specific objectives of WG 1 • Workshop 2: in Lahti (Finland), 7th and 8th June 2006 • Presentation and exchange of information among participant DPs of Best Practices regarding WG 1 contents • Debate and work in groups • Presentation of the methodology of WG1 final product and debate • Workshop 3: in Santander (Spain), 18th y 19th April 2007 • Discussion and debate on the case of Reinosa´s region, regarding WG 1 contents • Visit to SIDENOR • Presentation and discussion on the draft of WG 1 final product • Evaluation of WG 1 Plenary Session - Equal Transnational Network ADAPTABILITY*4

WG 1: LESSONS LEARNED • To learn what it means to work in an international environment • New methods of work • System of Labour relations in Spain and Finland • Exchange of experiences • To create common tools that can be useful for all has turned out to be difficult • To be aware of cultural differences and how they influence ways of working in WG1 • The DPs capacity for learning from the exchange of experiences through the final product and the WG1 sessions • Possibilities of Transferability • To recognise the differences between the Finnish and Spanish socio-labour system, being aware of the fact that we have many common features and procedures, more than we originally thought Plenary Session - Equal Transnational Network ADAPTABILITY*4
