  2. Example #1: 5x + 8 = 8x + 2 -5x -5x 8 = 3x + 2 -2 -2 6 = 3x 3 3 2 = x Verbal Model: 1. Take 5x FBS 2. Take 2 FBS 3. Split into 3 groups

  3. Example #2: 10x + 2 = 6x + 14 -6x-6x 4x + 2= + 14 -2 -2 4x= 12 4 4 x = 3 Verbal Model: 1. Take 6x FBS 2. Take 2 FBS 3. Split into 4 groups

  4. Example #3: 2(5x + 3) = 6(x + 3) 10x + 6 = 6x + 18 -6x-6x 4x + 6= + 18 -6 -6 4x= 12 4 4 x = 3 Verbal Model: 1. Distribute 2. Take 6x FBS 3. Take 6 FBS 4. Split into 4 groups
