  2. Introduction: # 1 Prayer request! The desire to Know and Do God’s will better glorifying Christ in my life… Have the power to live out Christ’s destiny over me and my family.

  3. God’s authentic Life in our times and seasons! • Something more than “Dull religion” or “Do it yourself faith” • Waiting on the Edge of a “Miracle”

  4. Testimonies of those who have stepped into this Empowered Relationship in the Holy Spirit. • My love for God leaped forward • The sense of God’s immediate Presence accelerated • I knew that the Holy Spirit was speaking into my thoughts and ideas • My boldness and love has increased in that I see things and people differently. • The Word Came Alive after I was Baptized in the Holy Spirit…

  5. Evidence of the Resurrected Christ in our midst! • The Day God showed up… January 9, 1994 • “Thus sayeth the Lord… bringing us to the miracles of this building relocation.” • Myra’s ongoing healing.

  6. Acts 1:1 • In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach • Not a history book but the Living Word of God showing us the priority and possibility of God’s life living in and through the Church… In other words… this is NORMAL CHRISTIAN LIFE!

  7. God is inviting us into an Amazing Race in Him… • We must be Empowered for the Race… • God has given instructions…and we must pay careful attention… • Don’t attempt this Race in your own power “Wait”!

  8. Acts 2:1-21 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

  9. Acts 2:5-6 5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

  10. Acts 2:7-11 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

  11. Acts 2:12-13 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

  12. Acts 2:14-15 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning!

  13. Acts 2:16-18 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18     Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

Acts 2:19-21 19     I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20  The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21  And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

  16. A Promise fulfilled and continuing… • Jesus had been telling His disciples with excitement … (It is Good that I go away?) John 14:12 -18 Anyone who has faith will do “Greater Things than I” … because I am going to the Father… and I am sending You Another Counselor

  17. A Promise fulfilled and continuing … The Birth of the church ~ Into this Encounter of Partnership… A Pattern set for all time and every person …

  18. What Jesus Said, He would do He does! Acts 2:1-4 • On Pentecost … • The Events of this Unusual morning… 9:00 AM • They heard a sound …. • They saw something physical and tangible … • They were all filled with the Spirit … They began to speak in unlearned languages … • The city was filled with Pilgrims from all over the Mediterranean region:

  19. A Prophetic Word: John Bevere “Son, there are many called to my great End-Time army of believers who are bound by intimidation. They have pure hearts toward God and man; however, like Gideon of old, they are held captive by fear of man (Judges 6-8). The gifts I have placed in them are dormant.” … “They will step out and fearlessly obey Me. The shall be valiant warriors and shall bring forth great victories in the Strength of their God.”

  20. What does it look like to Be Full of The Spirit? • Authority to love as Christ loved… • Authority to walk out the Life of Christ … saying “No” to our flesh but “Yes” to God or even want to! (Gal. 5) • The Authority to understand and perceive prophetically the spiritual warfare going on around you… (Eph. 6:18 )

  21. A Public Declaration requiring explanation… vv. 5-13 An encounter that provoked questions … A boldness and Entrance of a Miraculous power

  22. Pentecost was a Miracle… The Intervention of Supernatural power in keeping with a higher spiritual law which supersedes the laws of human nature. What happened that Day was Miraculous Explosion of God on the scene in the disciples… Eyes widened and hearts quickened…

  23. “What does this mean?” • We see a miraculous transformation in these ordinary Galileans lives … • We hear a miracle, “They are praising God with something beyond human ability” • We see that God has come out of hiding and is putting Authority to Rule in these ordinary people

  24. The Reality that Jesus is Alive and active in our midst right now! It means that Jesus all He is proclaimed and promised are absolutely True…Now! It means that God has come among us and is Now Coming to live in us by His Spirit.

  25. The Reality of Jesus Alive and Active Now! • It means that we can come out of our powerless lives and empty hearted religion • It means that we can and do have All the Supernatural Resources from Heaven to break off Hell’s hold on us Right Now! • The Abundant Grace that is in Christ can now flow in our lives so that we can rule with Him…

  26. Romans 5:17 • For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign (RULE) in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

  27. Three responses to this incredible out pouring of God’s Spirit • Some however made fun of them…vv. 13 2. Some were angry and saw the threat Acts 4:2 • Some amazed and attracted A thirst for God’s “Something more!” Acts 2:37

  28. Cut to the heart… • They realized what they were doing by ignoring God’s action toward them. • They understood the consequences of their ways and the danger if they didn’t correct the situation. • They saw their lack in the light of Heaven’s overflow…

  29. What shall we do? • Repent… change direction in your thinking, trusting and belief… • Be Baptized … this was the initial step into fellowship with Christ • Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit …

  30. Luke 11:11-13 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

  31. Places we may be today: • We have received the Spirit but we need a New infilling … many infillings of the Spirit. • We have sought the Spirit but have not evidenced the Initial physical evidence of the Language gift. • Amazed and attracted to something both interesting and amazing… A thirst for God’s “Something more!” Acts 2:37

  32. Conclusion: They responded in Faith: That day … 3,000 were added to the church vs. 41 That day … 3,000 were Filled with Holy Spirit power … That day … The church was born and ignited in Power… The RACE BECAME IMMENSELY AMAZING!

  33. Steps to Receiving this Amazing Promise of the Father …. John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

  34. Steps to Receiving …. • Be thirsty…. • Come unto me … Jesus! • Drink deeply of Him … vs. 37 • Release the Outflow … out of your bellies will flow the Living Water…
