Self-Care • Get treatment & drugs that are helpful/necessary • Use common sense • Avoid harmful substances & activities • Choose the best doctor, medical center, & health insurance • Take care of your emotions/stress levels • Know when to call a doctor • Assess quality of care & treatment doctor provides; get second opinion if necessary

  4. What products in your home promote preventative/self-care? Aspirin, cough syrup, eye drops, band aids – first aid kits, sunscreen, exercise equipment, etc.

Personal Health Management – self care that promotes wellness • Keeping your own health records • Choosing & visiting a physician/dentist • Regular check-ups/exams • Getting medical care for injuries & illness • Choosing health care facilities when necessary • Arranging for payment of health care facilities and services
