  1. 2 ANALYSE SPECTRA SPECIES BY SPECIES Predict spectra over wide frequency ranges at different temperatures. 1 MAKE PREDICTIONS Spectroscopic databases Collisional databases Data from telescope First-level data treatment MODEL Optimize parameters Synthetic spectrum Measured spectrum Databases : JPL, CDMS and Vastel ortho/para. Collaboration to include others? Collisional databases to be included soon. Models : LTE and comets (Crovisier) already available. LVG prototype is being tested (ver 1.1). Laboratory cell absorption/atmosphere/other models - possibility for collaboration. Optimisation of parameters: Rotational diagram available. c2 planned for LVG. Other methods - collaboration possible. Compare predictions of the model with the observations Fit a Gaussian or several if there are overlapping components Information on the line : Einstein coefficient Aij Energy of the upper state Quantum numbers Show the position of close-lying components Skip from line to line for one species ignoring the spectral region in between. Choose to order by frequency, by Aij, or by upper state energy. Fit and remove a baseline Rotational diagram Comparison of a simulated spectra with observations from the ODIN satellite (the two spectra have been deliberately offset). The simulation is not complete but gives an idea of how it is possible to combine lines of differing width and compare convoluted lineshapes. (The simulation was made with an older version of CASSIS and the graphical display is slightly different from the present version.) We thank the ODIN team for allowing us to use a part of their data for testing of CASSIS software. For full details of the Orion spectral survey please refer to their work. • Interactive creation of rotational diagrams. Possibility to select groups of points and calculate T and N for different regions of the object. Select telescope template (e.g. to calculate beam dilution) and choose a frequency resolution for the simulation. Select upper threshold energy and minimum intensity. Enter physical parameters for the chosen species. Create save and choose templates. Choice of database : JPL, CDMS, and CASSIS (Vastel) for ortho/para. 3 GLOBAL ANALYSIS OF SPECTRA COMET MODEL BY JACQUES CROVISIER
