  4. What is Genitiv? • Use genitive case to show possession, for indefinite time phrases, and for the genitive prepositions • To show possession you will put two nouns next to each other. Genitiv Prӓpositionen • The genitive prepositions are: • anstatt (statt) instead of • trotzinspite of • während during • wegen because of, on account of • They will be followed by genitive case forms: • Wegen des WettersbleibenwirzuHause. Note- the s added to the end of das Wetter. With genitive case you add an s or es to the end of the possessed noun for masculine and neuter words.
