Second World War The League of Nations President Woodrow Wilson proposed the Fourteen Points: The League of Nations 1918 LN established (headquarter: Geneva in Switzerland) (There were 41 founder members) 1920 What were the weaknesses or Shortcomings of the League of Nations: 1) The isolation policy of the United States. 2) Absence of peace-keeping force. 3) Britain and France did not give full support for the League ofNations’ peace- keeping activities. The U.S. had never joined the LN 1931 Manchuria Incident 1932 The Lytton Report Japan withdrew from the LN Germany withdrew from the LN 1933 Italy attacked Abyssinia The LN applied economic sanction on Italy 1935 Italy withdrew from the LN 1937 The weaknesses of the League of Nations failed to stop the aggression of the totalitarian states. It was one of the causes of the Second World War. Britain and France did not fully apply the economic sanction 1946
