  2. The Great Evangelistic Command • Matthew 28:19-20 -- Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

  3. Comparing Two Terms • KJV: “…Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…teaching them to observe. • Term #1 – MATHATEUO = enroll as a learner, disciple, make a disciple of… • Term #2 – DIDASKO= to teach, to instruct

  4. DIDASKO • The role of the teacher • 1 Timothy 3:2 -- …able to teach… • 2 Timothy 2:2 -- …entrust…to faithful men who will be able to teach others also….

  5. 2 Timothy 2:24 • “The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged….”

  6. The Role Of The Learner • Psalm 78:1 – “Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth….”

  7. Proverbs 4:13 • “Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is you life….”

  8. Teaching Them To Do What? • TEREO – to guard, to watch closely, to keep an eye on, to observe carefully • What is the duty of a disciple? To keep the commands of Jesus.

  9. What Should We Observe? • Jesus’ commandments • No longer the Jewish covenant • No longer human creeds • No longer traditions of men • But Divine precepts

  10. What is the Christian walk? • Ephesians 4:11-13 – “…And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.”

  11. Some Indispensible Commands • John 14:15 – If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. • How many commandments of Jesus are there?

  12. The Biggest Two • Luke 10:27 -- “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”

  13. Matthew 5:44 • But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

  14. Matthew 5:48 • Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. • Matt. 6:33 – “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness….”

  15. Our Ever Present Savior • “…with you always… • Greek: All the days • Hebrews 13:5 – “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.”

  16. Deuteronomy 31:6 • “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”

  17. Jesus Will Be With US • John 16:7 – “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you….”
