Living Habit • The antelopes are gregarious. • Live on the high mountain and semidesert areas of the Tibetan plateau(the altitude is 4300m to 5100m) • Feed on various forb and grass • Foraging in the moring and evening • Good at running,the maximum speed up to 80 kilometers • In summer,the female antelope is migrate where they usually give birth a calf,normally in June and July. • In late autumn,the female antelopes can return and gather with male antelopes

Why it is becoming endangered? • The antelope’s undercoat is the warmest and softest wool in the world. • The wool can make nice shawls which can be through a wedding ring and people call them “ring shawls” • Make a shawl need to 3 to 5 antelopes and a shawl’s value is about $50,000. • The only way to get wool is to kill the antelopes,many businessmen who • make the shawls used many ways to hunt antelopes and then illegally transported to other countries. • A great deal of antelopes died and it’s also seriously affected the breeding population of antelopes. • There are merely less than 75,000 individuals left in the wild,down from a million. • They have a hard life becaue they worry about be killed.

  5. Listed as endangered by the World Conservation Union. • Chinese governments took active actions--- • In 1992,Jingtang build nature protection zone • In 1995 ,Kekexili build nature protection zone • In 2000,Sanjiangyuan build nature protection zone It’s so cute!
