Redbridge Foyer is managed by Network East Foyers, and provides 60 units of self-contained bed-sit accommodation, and 2 self-contained wheelchair units with separate overnight accommodation for carers. The ground and first floor areas of the foyer building accommodates a computer training suite, the residents’ laundry, offices for foyer staff, an employment and training suite and areas managed by outside bodies. These include: a young peoples’ drop-in and advice centre with counselling and health services, and Information and Communications Technology [ICT] facilities a large area for letting as commercial use The project was procured on an ‘open book’ Partnering basis using the NEC form of contract. The project was awarded Housing Forum Demonstration Project status. The scheme is the first by any RSL to use a web-based project collaboration facility. The accommodation units are factory-built,fully and semi-volumetric, timber-framed construction. The units are fully fitted out with bathrooms and kitchens in the factory, under strict quality control conditions, and delivered to the site by transporter, and craned into position. The building is clad in brickwork and aluminium, with a curved stainless steel sheet roof.
