  1. Biomes In this Web Quest, students will individually research global warming and characteristics of one of nine major biomes: rainforest, taiga, grassland, desert, tundra, temperate broadleaf deciduous forest, marine, freshwater or estuaries in order to design and create PowerPoint slides to share with others. Students will collaborate to compile a database of biome characteristics using a templete to reach a team decision about which biome is likely to be most affected by global warming. Finally, teams will debate this issue.

  2. YOU BE THE SCIENTIST! • In the course of this project, you will be a scientist whose job is to find out which major ecological community on Earth will be most affected by global warming.  Of course, you have to be knowledgeable about ecological communities, often called biomes, and you have to understand the theory of global warming.  You will gather data and consult with a team of other scientists in making your determinations.  You will share your findings before a group of scientists, and your team will debate their findings with our teams.  The future of the world may depend on a better understanding of global warming and how science should deal with it, so do your best!

  3. Everyone is concerned about the affects of global warming, but especially scientists.  As a concerned scientist, you will explore some websites to learn about: 1.  Adaptations of Organisms 2.  location, rainfall, temperature and precipitation 3.  Any interesting or unique features/facts about a specific biome 4.  plants common to specific biomes 5.  animals common to specific biomes 6.  possible changes to a specific biome that could result from global warming 3 scientists will design and create a total of seven PowerPoint slides including a title slide and one slide each on the six topics above.  Your team of scientists must reach a consensus while using a rubric that will be provided to help you. PowerPoint presentations and the database will be shared with the whole scientific community (your class).  During the presentations, the class will be while filling out the information sheet.
