  1. Sandburg Activity • Choose a city you LOVE and is familiar to you! • Give the city a new and distinctive nickname. • Write down five “positive” adjectives to describe the city. • Write down five “negative” adjectives to describe the city. • Imagine you are walking down the city’s main street. Describe two scenes/images you see (these can be positive and/or negative). • Ex. A woman carrying armfuls of shopping bags that are blowing in the unyielding wind.

  2. Write your own “Chicago”! Take the information you’ve already written down and compose a poem, similar to Sandburg’s “Chicago”. Your poem should highlight the good and the bad qualities of the city, but in the end, you should praisethe city you’ve chosen. 15-line minimum Have it typed for Wednesday!
