  1. Figurative language Writing enriched by words, imagery, sensory details and figures of speech

Alliteration Station • Reread your sentence. • Does the sentence make sense? • Is there proper capitalization and end punctuation? • Are you using the same beginning sound throughout the sentence? When you are satisfied with your sentence, polish it up, make it look nice, add color, and put your name on it!!

  3. Metaphor Station • Choose one of the following to turn in. • Metaphor poem “I am…” • Color swatch poem Read over your poem. • Are you comparing 2 things without using “like” or “as”? • Are you metaphors descriptive and use strong words? • Are there are at least 3 metaphors? • Do your comparisons make sense? Could a reader figure it out? When you’re satisfied with your poem, write it neatly, make it look nice, put your name on it, and turn it in!!

  4. Simile Station • Reread your simile draft poems. Choose 1 to make a final draft. • Are you comparing 2 things using “like” or “as”? • Are you similes descriptive and use strong words? • Are there are at least 3 similes? • Do your comparisons make sense? Could a reader figure it out? When you’re satisfied with your poem, write it neatly, make it look nice, put your name on it, and turn it in!!

  5. Figurative Language Rubric • You will be graded using a rubric for each final product you turn in.
