  2. “While a delightful part of our Society is found in our social gatherings, how many of our members keep in mind that we are organized for certain serious and worthy professional purposes? It follows the newer order of organizations, namely, that a body formed for specific undertakings, namely a professional association of women educators to support the professionalism and professional development of women educators.” ‐ Annie Webb Blanton

  3. Time is precious! • Women are doing more and wanting more! • Time is pressure! • Priorities have to be made!

  4. Women as Leaders • Are less likely to take credit for their accomplishments • Take set-backs personally • More emotionally volatile • Do not have mentors early in careers • Are sometimes sabotaged by other women • Take the Step, the Bridge Will Be There • Grace Cirocco

  5. Leadership is the responsibility of everyone who makes a difference!

  6. 4 C’s of Successful Leadership • Control — discipline your mind • Confidence — believe in yourself • Compassion — use your heart • Courage — take positive action

  7. 3 R’s of Successful Leadership • Rethink: nothing should be unthinkable or impossible. • Reinvent: putting new ideas to work in new ways. • Renew: keeping yourself and your chapter invigorated, motivated and on track.

  8. ICE • Takes time to form • Needs optimal conditions and nurturing to form and maintain • If not maintained– will melt and dissolve • Essential to keep other items fresh • Can be used to reduce pain • Others??

  9. Time to ICE! • I - Inspire • C - Collaborate • E - Energize

  10. Making the most of the purposes!

  11. ICE Programs! • Use your internal resources! • Market yourself and help others as well! • Utilize a Chapter Assessment! • Get to know each other at every chapter meeting and event! • Involve each member personally at least 3 times each year! – Investment!

ICE Programs! • Recognize a member or members personally each meeting! • Make meetings meaningful! • Activities that show appreciation for attendance! • Always relationship build at every meeting! • Know your chapter – what passions are taking them away from meetings?? Incorporate?? • Communicate, communicate, communicate!
