What are our Objectives. • We believe that the Physical Environment of Middlesbrough is a vital aspect in ensuring the citizens of the town enjoy a high standard of living. • We further believe that the physical environment of Middlesbrough is important in attracting and maintaining an active business community. • Our goal is to deliver, in partnership with its citizens, an attractive and well maintained public space for the benefit of all who live in, work in or visit Middlesbrough.

Streetscene and Community Strategy Street Cleanliness Horticulture Street Works • Improve Environment and Perception of the Town. • Encourages investment/business and visits to the Town • Reduces fear of crime • Encourages less tolerance of anti social behavior • Encourages environmental awareness. • Increase satisfaction with Council Services

  10. Service Promise Performance • All service promises performance reviewed weekly. • All but one performing well. • Replacement of missed bins now a service priority. • New junk job service a development for last years service promises.

  11. Recycling • 1/4 of town covered by pilot • collection of glass, aluminium, textiles, paper. • Rest of town will receive new service by April 2006. • Important with regard to statutory performance targets. 18%.

  12. Waste Education • 10 primary schools active on waste awareness programme • Assemblies • Specific lessons surround waste issues and citizenship.

  13. Enforcement • Trade waste • Stop and search. • Back alley complete clean • Litter offences • Megaphone Man.
