  1. Giving Faculty a Head Start with Jump Start & TAMU-K Library Services

  2. The Jump Start Program The Jump Start Program provides faculty the opportunity to learn about instructional technology and applications from an educational perspective. The program is designed for maximum impact. Participants completing this training will achieve optimal skills essential to viable online course production. • Is a comprehensive hands-on training program • Includes other faculty members with similar objectives • Provides monetary compensation at each level of completion • Includes an effective and enthusiastic support team • Provides opportunities to collaborate with faculty at other universities A five day training seminar will be conducted at the Cousins Hall training facility at the end of each semester.

  3. Eligibility… Priority for participation in the Jump Start program is given to full and part-time faculty. • Faculty developing online courses for Board of Regents approved online degree programs. • Faculty converting correspondence / core curriculum courses into online courses. • Faculty who are developing online courses for certificate programs.

  4. Compensation ... • Faculty members will receive $1,000 after completing the initial five days of training. • Participants will receive a second payment of $500 after “showcasing” the initial online course. • Participants will receive a third payment of $500 after the initial course is submitted for Peer Review / QM Review Standards • Final payment of $1,000 will be received after the initial course is offered and taught.

  5. Training & Production... The training and support services enable faculty to follow The Principles of Good Practice for Electronically Offered Academic Degree and Certificate Programs, and the QM Inter-Institutional Quality Assurance in Online Learning Standards. Topics include: • WebCT • Course development • Creation of online course syllabi • Setting up learner outcomes • Student online resources • Uploading course content • Utilizing library resources • Media preparation for online delivery • Assessment & evaluation

Jernigan Library Provides Team Teaching and materials support for the professors and students in Distributed Learning through:  • Access Services • Distributed Library Services • Reference/Research Services • Technology Learning Center • Remote Access Assistance • Document Delivery Services • Library Instruction – In-House, WebCT, TTVN • Guides & Bibliographies • TexShare • Online Tutorials
