What is tested in Paper 2?Question 1 • Sentence Construction based on the given words and graphics. • A composite picture with helping words based on the pictures. • Candidiates may use the given words, but they may choose not to use all the words. • Write 5 sentences based on the picture given.

  3. Question 2 • An information transfer question • Pupils have to read and understand information pertaining to 3 items based on the various topics or Area of Learning in the syllabus. • The transfer will be at word and phrase level into a grid (A) and • At sentence level while making a preference ( B ) • Remember the spelling, punctuation and legibility

  4. Question 3 • This is a note expansion question. • Candidiates are required to study carefully 3 pictures based on a similar theme. • Then, candidates are to use all the given words / phrases to make good sentences for each picture,

TIPS FOR ANSWERING QUESTION 1 • Look at the picture carefully • Read and try to relate the helping words given with the picture. • Construct simple sentences with the helping words. • Pupils can also construct the sentence without using the helping word, but the sentence must be related to the picture.

  6. TIPS FOR ANSWERING QUESTION 2 • When transfering information from the original text, pupils should be careful with the spelling of words transferred, capital letters and punctuations. Common spelling mistakes – Johor Bahru – Johor Bharu, television – televisyen, air-conditioned - air conditioned • Make your choice and write it down clearly. • Be careful when constructing sentences. Avoid simple grammatical and spelling mistakes.

  7. TIPS FOR ANSWERING QUESTION 3 • Look at the pictures and words given carefully. Understand the words and their meanings before constructing sentences. • For each picture you can make one, two or more sentences depending on your proficiency. • You may not use the given words in its order but you have to use all the words. • Use correct English. Pay attention to structure, spelling, punctuation, and legibility.

  8. Although you are allowed to write short sentences,compound and complex sentences are encouraged, especially when constructing sentences for the second and third pictures. • Your sentences must be relevant to the pictures.
