Framing • Long shot- when the camera takes a shot of the entire object or human • Extreme long shot- the same as long shot but the background is included as well • mid/medium shot- a shot of the head up to the waist • Close up- a shot of just the top of the shoulders and the head • Extreme close up- gets right in and shows extreme detail e.g. Eyes • Medium close up- a shot in-between a mid shot and a close up • One/two/three shot- a shot depending on the number of people in it e.g. Two shot= a shot with 2 people in it

Angles • Eye level- the camera is positioned as though a human is actually observing a scene • Low angle-a shot from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis • High angle-usually when the camera angle is positioned above the eye line- when a camera is taking a shot on an angle or tilt • Birds eye view/ Ariel shot-a shot looking down on the scene

  5. Task 2 Match the picture to the shot name: • Low angle • Canted • Eye level • High angle • Birds eye view/ Ariel shot

  6. movement • Pan-This is a swivelling movement, i.e. mounted in a fixed location on a tripod or shoulder • Tilt- This is a really simple shot because the only thing is, is that the camera is tilted when the shot is taken • Pedestal- the camera just moves up and down while it is placed on a stand called a pedestal • Tracking shot- this is when the camera is moving in time with the shot (mainly used for running scenes) • Dolly- a shot which moves and is places on a dolly stand • Crab- this shot is exactly like a crab it just moves sideways • Arc- this is when the shot moves forward and sideways

Other shots POV- point of view shot Over the shoulders shot- this is when the camera is placed as though you are the other person Reaction shot- shots which show the reaction Cutaway- (Extra shot) used to establish the scene and cuts from the main action Hand held- this is when you use a handheld camera
