  2. National Data Acquisitions • In 2013, the SDCG should develop a process and mechanism to invite countries to express specific national needs which require coordination of acquisitions across SDCG members, and with non-SDCG member providers.

National Data Acquisitions Next Step The SDCG should define and document the element 2 strategy in coordination with SDCG participating agencies, CEOS leadership and member agencies, the GFOI Project Office, and key national stake holders. An update on the progress towards the development of element 2 will be provided to CEOS Plenary in November 2013, and will be presented for approval at SIT-29.

  7. National Data Acquisitions Implementation • Implementation of the element 2 should begin in 2014, and should start with a pilot phase, working with a limited number of countries in order to demonstrate that the coordination process is effective and can be sustained. A recommendation on which pilot countries should be engaged will be provided by SDCG based on existing relationships, and in support of the data delivery activity that is only now beginning.
