  2. The main goal of this forum is to present new discoveries and ideas on marine research in the world. It will provide a vital chance to discuss comparative studies and to exchange new information. • This symposium will cover a broad range of topics in the following area: • Variability in climate and environment • Ocean circulation and air-sea interaction • Processes and their mechanism in the coastal sea • New Tec knowledge of marine research • Others • Abstracts • Symposium will include oral and poster presentations for invited and contributed papers. Abstract should be submitted as an MS word attachment to lilei@mail.ouc.edu.cn The deadline for abstract submission is August 31, 2004. • Notice indicating acceptance as either oral or poster presentation of contributed papers will be informed by e-mail in September, 2004. Recommended format of the abstract is as follows: • Title of presentation • Author(s)/Organization of the author with address, email, telephone and fax • Extended Abstract(2 pages) • Preferred delivery(Oral or Poster) • Symposium publication • Extended abstracts of all oral and poster presentations will be published in the Symposium proceedings before the meeting. The selected papers will be published on Journal of Ocean University(English Edition). Forum on Marine Science— New development and challenge First Announcement & call for Papers October 25-27, 2004 Qingdao, P.R. China Recently, more and more people recognize that our Earth is facing quick changes in climate and environment. Oceans play key roles in regulating these changes and to meet the needs of resources. More accurate and timing predictions on these variabilities and their influence on the human society are demanded. Marine science are facing the new challenge. New discoveries and theories of marine system are developed quickly since last 20 years. There will be an international symposium on marine science in Qingdao during the 80th anniversary of Ocean University of China, October 25-27, 2004.
