RURAL HONDURAS STATISTICS • Average level of education is approximately 5th grade • Typically no doctors within a 20 mile radius • 80% of the population haveno access to a dentist • 70% have no access to public sanitary services • Typical families have less than 3 gallons of water • per day to use • Limited to no access to microfinance ABOUT LOCATION MEDICAL BRIGADE CONTRIBUTION TAKE ACTION

  9. 1 of 5 people in rural Honduras do not have access to healthcare

  10. Every 10,000 Honduran People typically has access to only the following healthcare resources: 4 doctors 1 dentist 10 nurses

  11. 80% of children under 5 are in oneof the 3 stages of malnutrition

WHAT IS MEDICAL BRIGADES? • Medical Brigades • Provides communities with access to doctors and medicine every 3-4 months • Through multiple 7 day brigades, community members receive doctor care, medicine, and health education workshops • Community Health Workers are trained in communities to help provide follow-up to care and refer medical emergencies between brigades ABOUT LOCATION MEDICAL BRIGADE CONTRIBUTION TAKE ACTION

BRIGADE STRUCTURE • 1 Week Medical Brigade Components • Volunteers work with licensed medical professionals • Brigades visit communities over 3 consecutive days • Volunteers & health professionals use Open MRS data software to track patient information and care • Each daily medical clinic consists of the following stations: • In-take • Triage • Doctor Consultation • Gynecology station • Dental Consultation • Prescription drop-off • Healthcare education workshop • Prescription pick-up and directions ABOUT LOCATION MEDICAL BRIGADE CONTRIBUTION TAKE ACTION

TOTAL CONTRIBUTION • How is your Medical Brigade Funded? • Volunteers’ Program Contribution: • $750 (Honduras) • Brigade expenses • Program sustainability and Development • Airfare: Variable • Program Contribution Details • 7 day program (Honduras) • Accommodations and meals (vegetarian options available) • Clean drinking water • Airport pick-up and drop-off • In-country transportation • Spanish translators and coordinators, and security • Program sustainability and follow-up between brigades ABOUT LOCATION MEDICAL BRIGADE CONTRIBUTION TAKE ACTION

MEDS CONTRIBUTION • How do you get Medications? • Fundraise for Medications Contribution to get a Brigade Box in Honduras **Contribution: • $2500 for the whole group (split up between 50 brigaders potentially $50 per brigader for Brigade Box) • **Brigade Box covers about half of all Medications needed (Medical and Dental) • Collect Medications in Home Country: Not all medications can be provided from Honduras in your Brigade Box, about half of the needed supplies/meds will be collected by you at home!
