  1. FUNction Project. Autumn Jester

  2. My Real Word Problem. • Timmy is at a baseball tournament & has to buy all the guys Gatorades & they are each sold for $2.50. If he has to buy 12 more guys some Gatorade how much will it cost all together?

  3. The Equation. • The equation to my problem is… Y=$2.50x or f(x)= 2.50x X= the number of guys. Y= the amount of money it is for all the Gatorades.

  4. Independent & Dependent. • The independent variable is my x which is how many guys there is. • The dependent variable is my y for the total of all Gatorades. • We know that yDEPENDS on x. • So that means the total cost DEPENDS on the number of guys there are.

  5. Table of Values.

  6. Domain and Range. Domain is the set of all the possible input values, which is X. Range is the set of all the possible output values, which is Y. So my domain is {1,2,3,4,5} My range is {2.50, 5.00, 7.50, 10.00, 12.50}

  7. Is it Continuous & Discrete. • My data only contains points and NOT a line, so it is a discrete graph. • & You can not buy only part of a Gatorade so you have to buy a whole one!

  8. Is it a function? • A function is when there is one independent value paired with one dependent value. So your x’s can’t repeat. • And my x’s don’t repeat so it is a function.

  9. Gatorade Graph

  10. Soo… • There is 13 guys total, and Gatorade costs $2.50 each. So, the answer would be $32.50. That’s how much money Timmy will need to get to buy all of the Gatorades for the baseball team.
