Climate Change: A Growing Threat to Our Planet Climate change is the long-term warming of the planet caused by the increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This warming has serious consequences for the planet and its inhabitants CAUSES The main cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which releases large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. IMPACTS Climate change is already having a number of serious impacts on the planet, including rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events, and loss of biodiversity. These impacts are expected to become even more severe in the future if we do not take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. SOLUTIONS There are several things we can do to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and slow the rate of climate change.
