Requirements of a Marine • AT LEAST 17 YEARS OLD AT TIME OF ENLISTMENT • AT LEAST 20 AT TIME OF COMMISSIONING • HAS NOT REACHED 29TH BIRTHDAY AT ENLISTMENT • HAS NOT REACHED 28TH BIRTHDAY AT TIME OF COMMISSIONING • CITIZEN OF UNITED STATES • PROOF OF LEGAL RESIDENCY • PHYSICAL EXAMINATION • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA • BACHELORS DEGREE • RECRUIT TRAINING AT MCRD PARRIS ISLAND OR MCRD SAN DIEGO •  (SOI) , (MCT) +  (MOS),  (TBS) + (MOS),  (NROTC), (PLC),  (OCC)

  5. Benefits of a Marine • The advantages of becoming a Marine far exceed a simple list of benefits: those who earn the title are supported by the Marine Corps brotherhood. Benefits include financial resources, family healthcare and insurance, housing and facilities, education, travel, vacation, and recreation. • To be an effective force in our nation's defense, our warriors must not only be highly skilled, but also highly educated and financially secure.

  6. Miscellaneous info • Many Marines who have honorably completed their commitment later decide to continue or redefine their service, either on active duty or in the Marine Reserve. There are many opportunities for prior service Marines to continue the warrior lifestyle. Opportunities for prior service Marines include returning to active duty or serving in the Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR), as well as in the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) program.

Marine sniper info • A USMC Scout Sniper is a Marine, highly skilled in fieldcraft and marksmanship, that will deliver long-range precision fire on selected targets, from concealed positions, in support of combat operations. • A USMC Scout Sniper Team is a detachment of one or more sniper teams performing an assigned task of engaging selected targets, targets of opportunity, collecting and reporting information, or a combination of all, contributing to the accomplishment of the supported unit's mission.

  9. AN EXPEDITIONARY FORCEIN READINESS • It is our rapidly deployable, combined arms capability that enables Marines to thrive in any terrain and against any threat. Marines are trained in many different roles but accomplish each task together, prepared to launch a range of amphibious operations, crisis response missions and limited contingency operations on extremely short notice.
