  1. Extragalactic Discussion – early science • Not big demand for small PI projects at start of early science • Accept concept that commissioning is important and early science should take place only at appropriate time. • Preferred concept of expert teams (+ observatory staff) proposing demonstration science for first call, with PR value and broad appeal. • Long term visiting scientists would be useful, although should avoid interfering with commissioning. • Now is time to plan demonstration science programs that can be done in early science modes • Bigger projects may be easier that lots of little programs during commissioning • But demo projects are not required to be large • HST, Spitzer, Chandra are gone by 2011 – capitalize on early synergy
