Facts About Togo’s History • First inhabitants to live in Togo were the Ewe who left the Niger River region around the 11th century. • Togo was Germanys first African acquisition. • Togo was divided into French and British speres of occupation. • In 1945, the french union was created and togo was given representation in the French National Assembly. • Togo was classified as an associated territory instead of a colony.
