Observing Yourself Act • At the Bell- • Turn to your My Acting History section of your binder • WRITE A FEW SENTENCES ON YOUR: • Acting history- as much onstage, as much offstage as you want to share.. 1 paragraph only. Don’t dare say you don’t have any!! • Your first role, your favorite role- the occasion where you thought of launching yourself as potential ham. One sentence only. • Why you are here- The Truth. Only class available? Fess up! We don’t want to worship any unworthy candidates on the alter of Dionysus.

  2. Observing Yourself Act • What happens at the exact moment when an actor acts? • Ten ingredients are present in any life encounter. At any moment, involving you and someone else will involve: • RELATIONSHIP: Some way of defining what you and the other person mean to each other • OBJECTIVE: Something you want • OBSTACLE: Something in the way • STRAGEGY: Plan to get what you want • TACTIC: (SCHEME) How you get what you want specific maneuvers

  3. Observing Yourself Act 6. TEXT: What is said by you and other person 7. SUBTEXT: What is implied but not really said 8. INTERIOR MONOLOGUE: Speech going on in your head 9. EVALUATION: Moments when the other person says or does something that makes you pause, consider, reject several answers before a reply 10. BEATS: small units in an acting scene that is actable in and of itself in which a single transaction is taking place
