  13. 8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; • 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. • 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT JESUS

  14. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. • 12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. • 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT JESUS

  15. The Bible says that Jesus is fully God (John 1.1) • The Bible says that Jesus is fully human (John 1.14) • The Bible says that Jesus died for our sins and rose again from the dead (1 Cor. 15.3-4) WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT JESUS

  16. Salvation: becoming born again (or being made righteous) by faith does not occur by: • Feeling guilty • Telling God everything you have ever done wrong • Going to church • Turning from evil ways • Any work or religious act • Making Jesus “Lord” SALVATION

  17. To be saved: • You have to believe what God says about Jesus: • He is God • He is human • He died for our sins and rose again • Then, you must say it out loud. If you say what God says you will be saved. At the moment you say it you become a new creation (2 Cor. 5.21) SALVATION

  18. Salvation is totally free. • Jesus paid the full price. • All you have to do is agree that He paid the full price and say you agree He paid the full price. The moment you do you pass from death to life, from sin to righteousness and from shame to glory. SALVATION

  21. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: • 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. • 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. • 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. FREEDOM

  22. This verse is written to believers, not unbelievers (1 John 2.1) • This is referring to God cleansing our soul – this can be seen by the fact our spirits are totally clean. • The love of God is totally unconditional, but you will not walk in that love, feel that love or enjoy that love if you continue to make dark choices. • To enjoy freedom from sin in your soul, you need to confess your sin. FREEDOM

  23. SOUL SPIRIT FREEDOM BODY

  24. SOUL SPIRIT FREEDOM BODY

  25. To gain freedom from sin you do not have to: • Beg God to free you (He is on your side!) • Do any penance • Bargain with God • Pay any price (Jesus paid the price) FREEDOM

  26. To be cleansed from that sin, you have to confess it. FREEDOM

  27. To be cleansed from that sin, you have to confess it. • This does not mean tell everyone or tell anyone. FREEDOM

  28. To be cleansed from that sin, you have to confess it. • This does not mean tell everyone or tell anyone. • This does not mean wail and moan about your sin. FREEDOM

  29. Confession means “to say the same as” • To confess your sins means to say what God says about them! FREEDOM

  30. What Does God Say About Your Sin? FREEDOM

  31. What Does God Say About Your Sin? • That Sin is Sin (Romans 3.23, Isaiah 53.6) FREEDOM

  32. What Does God Say About Your Sin? • That Sin is Sin (Romans 3.23, Isaiah 53.6) • That Sin Has Been Dealt With on the Cross (Isaiah 53.4-6, 2 Cor. 5.17-21) FREEDOM

  33. What Does God Say About Your Sin? • That Sin is Sin (Romans 3.23, Isaiah 53.6) • That Sin Has Been Dealt With on the Cross (Isaiah 53.4-6, 2 Cor. 5.17-21) • That You Have Dominion Over Sin (Romans 6.14) FREEDOM

  38. An Example… Smoking FREEDOM

  40. An Example… Smoking • That Smoking is Sin (Romans 3.23, Isaiah 53.6) • That Smoking Has Been Dealt With on the Cross (Isaiah 53.4-6, 2 Cor. 5.17-21) FREEDOM

  42. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1.5-9) • Homologia here is in the simple, subjunctive tense. • Simple – you just need to do it once • Subjunctive – it is your choice to do it • If you say what God says about your sins, God will forgive you and cleanse your mind and your habits from that sin. FREEDOM

  43. Forgive the Forgiven? • The Greek word for forgiven (aphieme) is the same word as the word for to send away or to leave alone. It is also the word used for divorce. • Matt. 4.11, 4.20, 4.22 • Matt. 8.15, 8.22 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. FREEDOM

  44. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. FREEDOM

  45. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say the same thing God says about our sins (do not excuse them, but focus on His redemptive work and the dominion we have over sin) then God is faithful and righteous to remove our sins from us, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in our soul.
