This compound is used in some industrial and commercial paints and its general function is to prevent corrosion. However, there are other important industrial uses and these other uses are not touched upon here. Among the other uses of Sodium, hexametaphosphate is as an oxidizing agent for aluminum alloys and other metal salts, and as an additive to gasoline and diesel engine exhausts, and as an additive to paint formulations. It is also used as a corrosion inhibitor in some cutting and drilling operations.
