  1. What are the difficulties of Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek?

  2. Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is one of the challenging and adventurous trek in Nepal offering the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV & V. Dhaulagiri I, the seventh highest peak in the world, offers different trekking routes for adventure freaks. The Circuit trek to Dhaulagiri follows glaciers and crosses snow-covered passes, a challenge perfect for those individuals wishing to go on remote demanding treks on the lap of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna. The majestic view of Dhaualagiri, Tukuche Peaks, Nilgiiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre and close peek to local lifestyle are the major attractions of the trek. Moreover, one can witness the amazing view of Thorong peak, Annapurna and Kali Gandaki River with the world’s deepest gorge.

  3. The difficulty of Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek depends on how fit and experienced you are. If you are seasonal hiker and have perfect fitness level, you can complete the trek easily without facing huge difficulty. For novice trekkers, Dhaualgiri trekking can be arduous as you have to walk on remote terrain for couple of days. Trekkers with low fitness and stamina find it difficult to cross the pass; en-route to Dhaulagiri Circuit. A continue uphill climb on rugged and remote terrain definitely calls for absolute fitness and stamina.

  4. The accommodation and food might be another major difficulties for trekkers. As there are basic homestay and teahouse up to Italian Base Camp, don’t expect for luxurious accommodation and food. Though the services are intriguing and accommodations are comfortable. Carry sleeping bag with liner for extra comfort. Basically DaalBhaat Tarkari (typical Nepali food) are served as the main course. You can also taste noodles, soups and varieties of local dishes. Don’t expect for wide selection of food.

  5. Trekkers have to overnight on camp from Italian Base Camp to Marpha or Tukuche (for around 4 – 5 days). Be prepared for wilderness experience. The tent stuff and kitchen is carried by porter from the starting point of the trek. You can hire cook and his helper to assist you for the preparation of the food.

  6. The trail from Swiss Base Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp are not well-marked, so you have walk on off-beat trail. The boulder strewn trail from Dhaulagiri Base Camp – French Base Camp might be challenging for soft trekkers. The crossing of French Pass, 5,000m+ the highest point of Dhaulagiri Circuit trek, is itself challenging. Likewise, the trail from Dhampus Pass to Batanse often confuses trekkers. There are main sub-trail connecting to the main trail which makes it very difficult to notice the right trail. We suggest you to strictly follow the footstep of your trekking leader.

  7. Water is another major problem in Dhaulagiri Circuit trail. Don’t forget to carry water purifier and extra water bottle in reserve. The trail from Japanese Base Camp – Dhaulagiri Base Camp has no water sources. • There are checkpoint from Darbang – Jomsom, so stay safe, follow your guide instruction – your life is on your own. If you are fully insured, quick helicopter rescue team will help out. There is no mobile network connection from the Juke Pani trail onward which makes very difficult to connect with the people.
