It allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model's database.

It’s based around models used for the planning, design, construction and management of building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically and with less environmental impact. 2. These BIM models are different from CAD drawings that may be 2D or even 3D.
