  1. ASBESTOS REMOVAL IN SUNSHINE COAST BY: CHARLES FRANKLIN

  2. How much should you worry about asbestos? Since most Australian homes built before 2003 have asbestos-containing materials (ACMs); You better start questioning yourself whether your house is free from ACMs or not? Asbestos used to be one of the most popular building materials in the past, due to its ability to resist fire and heat. This harmful substance was usually mixed with other material, such as cement, to produce a better quality product. You can find ACM products everywhere; including in piping, roofing, sheet flooring and even behind your walls.

  3. Sometimes, it is okay to just leave fibre products instead of removing them. But, you need to check their condition regularly. Once they get weathered, you and your building occupants are at risk of fibre exposure. This is why, in some cases, it’s better to safely remove them from your building. ACM products need extra care in handling. You can’t break, cut, saw, crush, or even scrub them! These hazardous substances are friable. Improper handling can lead to a serious health disorder that can cause death.

  4. The Government of Australia encourages property owners to seek help from professionals when they are dealing with ACM products. Illegal asbestos work can result in huge fines. This is why it’s better to just leave the job to the experts! Source: http://asbestoswatchsunshinecoast.com.au/asbestos-removal-sunshine-coast/

  5. Why you need asbestos removal? • A DIY project must require protective equipment and a safe removal process • Accidents can happen unexpectedly Reference: https://www.domain.com.au/news/diy-asbestos-20120508-1ya5z/

  6. Asbestos removal and clearance The model WHS Regulations set out the training and competency requirements for asbestos assessors, asbestos removal workers and supervisors. Under the model WHS Regulations two licences have been established— Class A and Class B. Businesses with a Class A licence are permitted to remove all types of asbestos, including both friable and non-friable asbestos. Businesses with a Class B licence can only remove non-friable asbestos.

  7. Friable asbestos is material containing asbestos that when dry, is in powder form or may be crushed or pulverised into powder form by hand pressure. This material poses a higher risk of exposing people to airborne asbestos fibres. Non-friable asbestos is all forms of asbestos other than friable asbestos and includes asbestos cement sheeting and other materials where asbestos fibres are bonded into a matrix. If non-friable asbestos is damaged or degraded it may become friable and will then pose a higher risk of fibre release.
