  3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY IIT Dharwad started functioning in July 2016 in Dharwad, Karnataka. The University offers full-time education with a total of 9 courses and 170 seats. Also, the institute provides bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degrees in engineering and science. Additionally, the University is currently functioning on a temporary campus of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) on the outskirts of Dharwad city while its permanent campus of 470 acres is under construction. The main motto of the IIT, Dharwad, is 'knowledge is one that liberates'.

  5. HISTORY In the 1990s S.R. Bommai, the late Human Resources Development Minister, moved the proposal of having an IIT Dharwad, to the Centre. Moreover, in 1998 a proposal was also sent by the ISRO chairman and space scientist Udupi Ramachandra Rao recommending the construction of the Indian Institute of Technology in Dharwad. Finally, in 2015-16 a budget was sanctioned by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for the state of Karnataka for building three IITs in the state. As a result, the Indian Institute of Technology came up in three shortlisted cities as Dharwad, Mysuru, and Raichur.

  6. INFRASTRUCTURE Hostel IIT Dharwad, provides accommodation for both girls and boys on its campus. The hostel presently accommodates 150 students. Students are provided with spacious rooms with all the basic facilities such as beds, bathroom, closet, and so on. In addition to that, the hostel provides a dining hall and recreational facilities. Moreover, the students are also provided with an internet facility. Library The University provides education even outside its classrooms for students who are eager to learn more through its Library. The IIT Dharwad, has a library with a huge collection of books ranging from all times to all subjects such as management, law, commerce, chemistry, and so on. These books provide the students with the additional knowledge they need to stand out. The Library also provides a common ground for students of all age groups and courses to come together to enhance their knowledge.

  7. INFRASTRUCTURE Sports Complex Sports play a very important role in maintaining the fitness and overall development of the student. Keeping this view in mind the Indian Institute of Management, Dharwad, provides various sports facilities to its students such as a football ground and a tennis court. Additionally, the students are presented with numerous sports opportunities, such as taking part in intercollege and interdepartmental events and competitions. Labs Classrooms and lectures only provide children with technical and theoretical learning. However, the Indian Institute of Management, Dharwad, provides practical learning to its students by giving them lab opportunities. The institute has a chemistry lab, computer lab, and physics lab. In addition to that, the University also provides its students with an engineering graphics lab and structures and algorithms lab.

INFRASTRUCTURE Cafeteria Any University needs to provide good quality fresh food to its students so that the students don't have to travel much for food and it becomes convenient for them to eat according to their convenience. Following this ideology, the University provides a cafeteria with various cuisines and food choices for all its students and teachers. The cafeteria is open for the whole day with a special cook to cater to students of all needs. Other Facilities Not only does the Indian Institute of Management, Dharwad, provide its students with a hostel, Library, labs, sports complex, and a cafeteria, but it also offers its students a gym inside the campus to maintain fitness. Moreover, medical facilities are provided to students in times of need or emergency. Also, the University provides its students with a free Wi-Fi campus. This helps in additional learning and makes e-learning possible.

  9. COURSES OFFERED Bachelors in Technology (B.Tech) IIT Dharwad, offers a full-time four-year Bachelors in Technology course in the field of engineering. This course offers three specializations such as computer science engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Masters courses The University offers various master's courses to its students, such as masters in computer science and engineering, masters in mechanical engineering, and masters in electrical engineering. These courses are for a duration of two to four years. The Admission to this course is based on the scores of entrance exams such as GATE, JEE, and so on.
