  1. The Good and the Bad of Getting a Long Eyelash Extension Have you ever seen all of the “before and after” photos that are being posted by women on Instagram after they have just gotten some eyelash extensions applied on them? Getting a long eyelash extension is something that has grown in popularity over the years. Most women are easily influenced by some of the photos that they see online, so it shouldn’t come as a shock if you or someone else that you know suddenly decides to call the local salon so you can schedule your appointment to have lash extensions applied on you. The thought of sporting long, dark lashes each day without having to put on makeup is enough to tempt any woman to schedule an appointment. However, there are a few important things that need to be pointed out before you do anything. First, you should know about the different kinds of lash extensions available in the market: synthetic, silk, and mink. Synthetic lashes are the most affordable and should cost you about $75 per set. Mink lashes, on the other hand, are the most expensive of the bunch. They are made out of mink fur and a complete set may cost up to $500 or more depending on the length and thickness of the extensions. You should also not confuse eyelash extensions with false eyelashes, or “falsies” as they are called, because they are two completely different things. Falsies are temporary and can only last you for a day. Eyelash extensions, on the other hand, are semi-permanent and can last for up to 12 weeks and even longer if you have them touched-up regularly. They do a great job of enhancing the length and thickness of your natural lashes, so they are definitely going to be worth your money. Having eyelash extensions applied on you means you will have to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of them, and boy are they going to be a lot to handle. If you want them to last you for a year, then you will need to have them retouched once every 2 to 3 weeks, which means additional expenses for you.
