  21. Summary of Wage Data • 11 of the 19 occupations experience wage growth above the MT average (1999-2005) • 10 of the 19 occupations had faster wage growth in MT than in the US (1999-2005) • Only 2 of the 19 occupations had higher wages in MT than the US - Pharmacy Techs. - Surgical Techs.

  22. Location Quotients • Compare number of people per healthcare worker in a smaller area to number in a larger area • A ratio of ratios • Allows us to see if we are over or under supplied in a given occupation when compared to the nation

  23. Location Quotient Example • In Montana there were 935,670 people in 2005 and 7,490 Nurses, or 124.9 people per nurse • In the US, there were 296,410,404 people and 2,368,070 Nurses, or 125.2 people per nurse • The LQ for nurses is 125.2/124.9, or just over 1.00

  24. Location Quotient Interpretation • LQs near 1 indicate about the same ratio as the US • LQs over 1 indicate more workers per population in MT than the US • LQs under 1 indicate fewer workers per population in MT than the US
