  1. Squint eye is a common eye disorder wherein the eyes are not aligned properly. One or both of the eyes may be defected. While one eye may be alright, the other may be aligned inwards, outwards, upwards, or downwards; thus not having both the eyes focusing in one direction. Some individuals have squint eye right from the time of birth, while others develop it over time. What causes squint? Squint could be a hereditary disorder that may affect the child while in the mother’s womb; or it could be a genetic disorder caused by conditions like Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy. Other causes could be childhood ailments like measles, or other eye infections, or fluid build-up in the brain. How to know if your child has squint eye? The most obvious identification of a squint eye is when the eyeballs are seen to be misaligned. However, there could be conditions where this misalignment may not be as visible. How do you then detect the condition? You need to look for other signals like if your child has to look with one eye closed, or with his head tilted to one side. Such signals may mean your child is having problems with his vision, and could likely mean a squint eye. This is when you need to consult an eye specialist.

  2. How can squint eye be treated? You need to treat squint eye as soon as you identify the condition, for the best results. In fact, if you delay the treatment, squint eye may lead to lazy eye, which is a serious condition, wherein the brain starts to ignore all inputs from the affected eye. The various treatments options include eye glasses for refractive error correction, eye exercises, injections, and the last retort being surgery. Surgery is the most effective treatment option where the eyes will be modified to work in tandem, thus improving both vision and appearance. What is squint surgery? In squint surgery, the muscles that are attached to the outside of the eye are moved to a new position. Such a surgery may be required in both the eyes in order to achieve balance, even if the squint affects only one eye. The entire procedure takes about an hour, and the patient is allowed to leave for home the very same day. Where to get the squint surgery done?
