Here, we have discussed the process of how to fix the installation or reinstallation problems in Legacy Family Tree effectively. Therefore, once you are done following the instructions, you should definitely have the issues fixed in no time. Table of Contents Common Legacy Family Tree Installation Problems Installer blockages, incompatible software, and corrupted files are common issues with Legacy Family Tree installations. Running the installer as an administrator, turning off antivirus software for a while, downloading a new version of the program from the official website, and doing a clean uninstall and reinstall are frequently ways to fix these problems. A conflict with another program or system driver, a spyware or virus infection, or a registry issue could be the cause of Legacy’s inability to be installed or the failure of a clean reinstallation. Here are a few more things to try in the order listed below: Steps To Fix Legacy Family Tree Installation Or Reinstallation Problems: 1. Give your computer a restart. In certain situations, it does work, whether you believe it or not. 1/4

  2. 2. The latest version of your Legacy Family Tree software is available for free download at the following link: Legacy: https://legacyfamilytreehelp.com/legacy-family-tree-10/. Previous Legacy Versions: Get the final release (build) of your version by clicking here. 3. Verify that the computer account you use to log in has complete administrative rights. Next, update the video driver and other important system drivers. Many users have experienced issues with the NVIDIA driver. Right-click on the Legacy icon to see if you have an NVIDIA driver. Choose “Run with Graphics Processor.” Instead of choosing “High Performance NVIDIA Processor,” choose “Integrated Graphics.” Moreover, to fix the issue, other users updated their NVIDIA video driver. You can stop here if Legacy is now functional. Proceed to the next step if you don’t have an NVIDIA driver or if this step didn’t work. Please go to the Microsoft page at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/microsoft-easy-fix- solutions-have-been-discontinued-b0f4b5f9-3b5a-bd9e-d75d-d45e2f12e16c if you’re still having trouble installing Legacy. This online “Fix it” tool fixes issues that block new installations and updates, and make it impossible to fully uninstall programs. IMPORTANT: Perform a comprehensive scan to eliminate any threats, such as viruses, spyware, adware, etc. Legacy will be blocked by certain Internet security programs. Programs created by Kaspersky, McAfee, Trend Micro, and others that contain spyware, adware, and dialers are among them. Remove any antivirus software that isn’t working properly from your computer. AVG Free can also be used in place of your existing antivirus software. Overly protective: Use just the Windows firewall and one anti-virus program, and uninstall any other firewall and/or anti-virus software you may have. We have recently encountered legacy issues that have resisted all attempts to fix them. In certain cases, we found that the users’ computers were running multiple firewalls, anti-virus software, etc. Legacy was immediately fix in each instance by removing the unnecessary security software.) Programs that you don’t need or use should be removed. Before the Legacy issue began, did you install a new program? Remove the new program if that’s the case. 1. Please go to the Microsoft page at https://learn.microsoft.com/en- US/office/troubleshoot/access/running-wizard-error-loading-dll. 2. Scroll down to ‘Fix it for me,’ and click on the Fix It buttons to resolve a potential DLL issue. 2/4

  3. If a damaged system file is the source of the error, you can attempt the following actions: 1. On your desktop screen, click the Start button in the left corner. 2. After choosing All Programs > Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and choose “Run as administrator.” 3. Using your keyboard, type “SFC /SCANNOW” (without the quotes) and hit Enter. This initiates a system scan for Windows and tries to fix any issues it finds. It will take a while to complete this process. 4. Try the scan again if it shows a message at the end saying that it detected problems but was unable to resolve them. 5. Type “Exit” without the quotes to end the command prompt window and check to see if that fixes the issue. If the message reads something like “I found errors and fixed them all.” Corrupt system files are not your issue if the message reads, “Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.” Get your computer back to how it was before Legacy stopped functioning. To find out how to perform a Restore Point, check your Windows help system. Press Ctrl + A on your keyboard to highlight every file in the Legacy folder after opening it on your hard drive. After that, you right-click on one of the files that is highlightes, and then from the pop-up menu that appears, choose ‘Properties.’ Click Apply and OK after unchecking the Hidden attribute in the Properties screen. Do this again for the Data folder, or any other folder where you store family files. Since this occasionally does work, let’s attempt copying the contents of the Legacy folder into a new folder: 1. Navigate to your hard drive using Windows Explorer, then right-click on the Legacy folder. 2. Choose Rename from the pop-up menu, and then change the folder’s name to zLegacy. 3. Choose New > Folder with a right-click, then give the new folder the name Legacy. 4. To highlight every file and subfolder in the zLegacy folder, open it and hit Ctrl + A on your keyboard. 5. To copy everything onto the Windows Clipboard, press Ctrl + C. Since the action takes place in the background, you won’t be able to see it. 6. Paste every file from the Windows Clipboard into the newly created Legacy folder by opening it and using Ctrl + V. 7. Hopefully, your family file will open when you close the folder and launch Legacy from the icon on your desktop screen. Try Legacy again after restarting your computer in Safe Mode if the previous steps didn’t work. There is most likely a conflict in your system if Legacy functions as it should in Safe Mode. For instructions on how to restart in Safe Mode, check your Windows help system. 3/4
