7. Repeating High School Courses • Options for repeating high school courses when an “F” is earned ?? • Courses used to satisfy the “A-G” requirements in which the student earns D or F grades must be repeated with grades of C or higher. • The repeated grades are used in calculating the GPA. • If a student repeats a course which the original grade is a C or higher, the repeated grade will NOT be used to calculate the GPA.

11. Community College Entrance Process • High School Diploma or 18 years old • Placement Exams in English & Math • No Application Fee • Tuition Fee: per unit

College Entrance Tests • PSAT - practice SAT • ACT Composite Total = 36 • English, Math, Reading, and Science (Writing is optional) • SAT Reasoning Composite Total = 2400 • Verbal, Math, Writing • SAT Subject Test (two required for all UC’s) • Each Test Total = 800 • Two tests from two different categories • English, language other than English, science, social science, or mathematics.

13. More Test Details • Students required to complete all tests by December • Students are encouraged to take tests early. Tests can be taken several times • UC takes the best score from one sitting. CSU takes best score from multiple sittings • SAT Subject tests should be taken soon after courses completed in the areas covered by the tests

Minimum Eligibility vs. Selection • Eligibility: meeting minimum requirements for UC admission • If the number of applicants exceeds the spaces available for a particular campus or major, the campus uses criteria that exceed the minimum requirements to select students. • Meeting the minimum requirements is not enough to gain admissions to many UC campuses and programs.
