15. Adapting the Structure I know that I have run through this quite quickly, but you have the information in your resources pack so you can go back and refer to the material as and when you need it.
Now I would like you to break up into groups of about 6-8. Just pull your chairs around into circles. We are going to do a little activity in small groups. I think it would be helpful if there were people from more than one church in each group so that you can share ideas and experiences.
Each of you has a sheet of paper entitled ‘Adapting the Structure’. What I would like you to do is to discuss in your groups, how you would organise the young people in your church based on the information given at the bottom. Then answer the questions you are asked to consider based on whether the church has 50 youth or 10 youth! Take a little time to share experiences which will help you develop a hypothetical strategy.
We will stop about 10 minutes before this workshop ends and I would ask each group to tell the rest of us about one idea or experience or story that impressed you and you think would be of interest to our whole group.I know that I have run through this quite quickly, but you have the information in your resources pack so you can go back and refer to the material as and when you need it.
