  3. Survey Development • Initiative from NRCS Office of Farmland Protection & Community Planning • Developed for pilot community in WI • Modified for use here; local oversight from: • Fulton Co. Regional Planning • Natural Resources Task Force

  4. Survey Delivery • 1400 Fulton Co. households • Random selection (equal chance for all) • Utility and land ownership lists • Stratified, proportionate sample • 40% rural; 60% incorporated areas • Wanted 50 rural/twns & 30-120 for urban • Mail delivery: early-Sept to mid-October • Local promotion • Up to 5 mail contacts for late/non-respondents

  5. Survey Participation • 959 usable returns  70% response rate • Of the usable returns: • 37% incorporated/urban • 63% unincorporated/rural 100%
