  2. The Roles of the Young Ambassador: • To encourage others to take part in physical activity. • To let others know about sport in the area. • To promote the Olympics and Paralympics. • To be role models for other young people.

  3. SPORT LEGACY • HOW? • Festivals • Competitions • Training sessions- Assist teaching in curriculum time • OSHL Clubs • Assemblies • Workshops Increase participation and healthy living of other young people

  4. Some of the things Young Ambassadors have done as part of their roles this term…..

  5. St Pauls Young Ambassadors helped to organise an outward bound trip where they took part in many challenges such as raft building, leap of faith. On the next slide you will see a picture of what they got up to.

  6. All Y.A.’s in the Bishop Wand School Sports Partnership have been into local primary school to promote their role

  7. Teaching things like….. • Netball • Rugby • Hockey • Multiskills

  8. THINGS WE HAVE DONE IN SCHOOL..... Have sports notice boards to show when training and matches are on, also to tell everyone what teams have been chosen. Made posters to put around the school, showing what sport means to us. Also made posters about healthy living and the 2012 Olympic Games.

  9. EDUCATION LEGACY 1. FRIENDSHIP Socialising….team work 2. RESPECT Referees…. rules 3. EXCELLENCE Achieving your potential When promoting the Olympics and Paralympics we tell pupils about the Olympic and  Paralympic ideals / values: We also talk a lot about the Paralympics. As we don’t want it to be forgotten.

HOW COULD OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE BE A PART OF IT? • Develop sport councils within schools • Encourage friends to get involved in sport through coaching and participation. • Talk to participants and supporters at sports festivals • Promotion of sports clubs that friends and family attend. • Volunteering at sports events e.g. Surrey youth games
