Rice Exporters Of Chhattisgarh Demanding Continuation Of 5% Tax Exemption Of Mandi Fee Which Is Set To Expire In 60 Days Located in Asia, India is the second largest rice producing nation after China and the country ranks first in terms of rice exports. Citing Chhattisgarh as a landlocked state, they also demanded a concession on the transportation of goods for export and the modernization of processing plants. The Bottom Line Pro-industry policies framed by the government have helped the state export 22% more in the last five years and the same can be expected this time around as well. Dr. Sarveshwar Bhure, District Collector of the state said that special efforts are being made, not only for the export of rice but also for processed spices, construction machinery, and materials, and riding on his statements, people believe a favorable decision will shortly be made by the government and the authorities.
