  1. Everything you need to know about Polycarbonate Sheets

  2. What is a Polycarbonate? • Polycarbonate is a kind of plastic. • In essence they are transparent but given colours for aesthetic reasons. Today, they are used to make eyewear, gadget panels, shutters, roofs, etc. Molecular formula:C15H16O2 IUPAC ID: 4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propan-2-yl]phenol

  3. Advantages of Polycarbonate Sheets • Polycarbonate sheets are basically transparent, which makes it an ideal option to replace glass • They have a high-impact resistance, hence used for bullet-proofing solutions • They are heat-resistant • They can be moulded in room temperature

  4. Advantages of Polycarbonate Sheets • Polycarbonates are recyclable. They can be heated and cooled again and again without causing any change in form • Ideal for thermoforming as they are amorphous • They are available in BPA-free versions, which are toxic-free. This is why it is used in manufacturing kitchenware

  5. Types of Polycarbonate Sheets Polycarbonates are generally classified into three types: Solid Sheets, Corrugated Sheets and Multiwall sheets • Solid sheets: Best sheets for constructing roofs of the buildings

  6. Types of Polycarbonate Sheets • Corrugated sheets: They offer better strength yet remain flexible. Best fit for arched roofs, visors, etc. • Multiwall sheets: Made by joining two or more layers of sheets. These are used to build greenhouses as their multiple layers offer better UV resistance.

  7. Applications of Polycarbonate Sheets • Roofs • Greenhouse • Kitchenware like mugs, plates • Doors • Windshield • Bullet-proofing solutions • Eyewear
