About Chimichurri & salsa criolla • Chimichurri sauce and salsa criolla are sauces that are commonly served with asado in Argentina. • A typical chimichurri sauce contains: parsley, minced garlic, oregano, vinegar (red or white wine), and cumin. • It can also include: tomato, sweet pepper, paprika, lemon and bay leaves • On the other hand, salsa criolla usually contains: tomatoes, onions, sweet peppers, garlic, salt, vinegar, and oil. www.buenaondafoods.com

What does chimichurri mean? • The etymology of the word Chimichurri is unclear. • One suggestion is it derives from ‘CheMi Curry’ where: • Che is a familiar greeting in Argentina • Mi means my in Spanish • Curry is a sauce associated with Indian Foods • Another suggestion is that it could be named after someone called Jimmy Curry or Jimmy McCurry. • Others think it could derive from the Basque word ‘tximitxurri’ which means a collection of some unordered things. www.buenaondafoods.com
