Should You Repair or Replace Blowers & Air Compressors?

A repair or an overhaul is generally a lot cheaper than having a blower or an air compressor replaced with a brand new unit. However, an overhaul really depends on the condition of the blower or compressor and also on the use intended for it. For more on this topic, check out these slides.

  1. Repair vs Replace: Blowers and Air Compressors

  2. The recommendation of overhaul compared to replacement really depends on the condition of the machine once it’s stripped down. If the actual compressor is not a valid option to rebuild, then the option of purchasing a new piece of capital equipment will be offered to the client. The advantage of the overhaul is cost of course. To overhaul a machine back to genuine specs, can be up to anywhere of 40% cheaper than a capital piece of equipment. An overhaul supplied with on the air in itself is supplied with a 12-month warranty. Not everyone will benefit from an overhaul depending on the condition of the machine and the size of the actual machine, the costs of the overhaul might actually be dearer than capital equipment purchase. If a client was considering an overhaul, compared to a capital piece of equipment they should contact their local agent who is an expert in that field.
