Endothelial cells are a thin layer of specialized epithelial cells, composed of a layer of flat cells, polygonal, cell edge serrated, mutually chimeric.It forms the inner wall of a blood vessel, the interface between blood in the lumen and other blood vessel walls (single layer of squamous epithelium). Endothelial tissue is a special kind of epithelial tissue, and epithelial tissue is one of the four biological tissues of animals. The function of Endothelial Cells Vascular endothelial cells (EC) is located in between the plasma and blood vessels, it can not only complete the metabolism of plasma and tissue fluid exchange, and can synthesize and secrete a variety of biological active substances, in order to ensure the normal contraction of blood vessels and diastole, efforts to maintain vascular tension, adjust blood pressure and blood coagulation and anticoagulation equilibrium special features, such as to maintain the normal flow of blood and long-term patency. Endothelial cells also control substances such as white blood cells that move in and out of blood vessels. In some organs, there are highly differentiated endothelial cells responsible for special filtration functions.Examples include glomerulus and cerebrovascular barriers.
