  1. Blood Clotting — Treating and Preventing the Condition Blood clots are sticky lumps formed in your arteries; when the blood platelets conjoin. Blood clotting is a common condition faced by 60-67% of the population of America. Depending on the situation, blood clotting is classified as harmful or beneficial for the body. Blood has serious tasks to nail. It's supposed to flow efficiently and continuously throughout the entirety of a living being's life cycle, but it also has to cut off the flow and start clotting around an accidental or intended cut or wound, to heal the wounded part. Blood clotting is healthy when it stops the blood from oozing out of the tear. On the contrary, blood clotting is dangerous for the internal organs as it hinders the blood flow and can also cause tumors in the body. What is Blood Clotting? Blood clots are clumps of platelets stuck together as the blood changes from liquid to partially solid. Clotting is a crucial function of your body when you need the blood to stop overflowing out of your wound.

  2. However, when the blood clots at some parts of your body where it does not dissolve properly, it might pose a danger to your health. How is a Blood Clot formed? Generally, a blood clot forms when your body detects damage in any blood vessel. A platelet plug is formed by conjoining platelets with fibrin, which stops the blood from coming out of the cut. Blood clots are also called 'Thrombus'. When the thrombus stays at one place, the condition is called 'Thrombosis'. And when the blood clots move around in the body, the condition is known as 'Thromboembolism'. The clots that move around pose a large fraction of danger to the body, as they can block blood flow in any part of the body. Which Type Of Blood Clotting Poses A Higher Risk To Your Body? Blood clots in the arteries are arterial clots; while the ones in the veins are called Venous clots. The clots that form in the larger veins are called "Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)". When this clot moves around and collects up in your lungs, it starts hindering your oxygen. This condition is called 'Pulmonary Embolism', and it stops your blood from flowing through your veins. Symptoms of Blood Clotting: Blood clotting may be easily recognizable in the limbs and torso, as they pose as swollen, red, or sometimes purple-ish bumps. But the clots deep inside your physical structure are not visible at all. The symptoms of blood clots depend on the position and type of it. Some of the most common symptoms are: •Bumps and redness on the skin •Soreness and pain in your limbs •Warm spots on your body •Nausea, vomiting, or pain, when the clots are in the stomach. •Brain clots may hinder your recognition, speaking ability, eyesight, limb failure, etc.

  3. •Clots in the heart may cause excruciating pain in the chest, sweating, heaviness in the left side of the body. Blood clots can be detected by MRI, CT, MRA, Blood Tests, Ultrasounds, or other such scans. Preventions against Blood Clots: Here are some ways to prevent Blood Clotting: •Regular physical activity. •Avoid smoking. •Consume a healthy diet and drink water regularly. •Maintain a healthy weight. •Avoid wearing body-hugging clothes. •Eat less salt. •Do not sit or stand for a long time. Treatment for Blood Clots: Blood thinners are a prime medication for Blood Clots. The medical term for this medication is called Anticoagulant. They help prevent blood clots from forming by thinning the blood. They are also helpful in dissolving the existing clots. Some blood thinners available in the market are: •Heparin •Rivaroxaban •Edoxaban •Apixaban •Dabigatran It is suggested to consult your physician before consuming Blood Thinners.
