  1. How do you remove nail glue after wearing false nails? 100% acetone is the best way but do you have acrylic nails? Gel polished nails? The distinction is important. If you have acrylic remaining on your nails, soaking in acetone is going to take about 30 minutes not 10 minutes as I believe was suggested. For this you will need finger bowls, 100% Acetone (non-negotiable), 100/180 grit nail file, nail buffer, paper towels, AT LEAST an hour of free time and a lot of patience. You will need to file down the nail to the length you want as well as file the acrylic to a lesser thickness to aid in removal. You will need to pull the nail from the acetone after 10 minutes or so and wipe the nail to aid in removing the acrylic. It will roll off in clumps. You also need to wipe the nail while it is still wet. Acetone dries quickly and the wipe down is virtually impossible when it's dry. This is likely where you are having difficulty. This is where time and patience come into play. You will need to stick your fingers back into the acetone filled finger bowls to help loosen the remaining acrylic. After another 10 minutes or so, pull the nails and rewipe the nails like you did above. By this time, some of the nails will be free of acrylic. If nail glue remains, resoak the nail and check after a couple minutes. Once you feel satisfied that all the acrylic is off and the nail is as clean as possible, this is where you will need the nail buffer to smooth the nail. The buffer does not need to be very gritty but don't use a superfine buffer yet either. Then lightly buff until your nails are smooth. Then follow with a nail strengthening polish. Make sure you use some type of cuticle oil DAILY! This will help rehydrate your nails. Hand cream, no matter how thick, will not cut it. Likewise, if you have gel polished nails and your trying to remove it then you need to scuff the nails to remove the shine. Then you can do the cotton ball/tin foil removal method. Truthfully, if your doing it yourself, get some cheap finger bowls, place acetone in the finger bowl and rest your fingers in the acetone for about 10 minutes. The remaining polish will lift up and you can "scrape" it off with a fingernail or an orange wood stick. That's easiest and not really damaging to the surrounding nail bed or skin. It's drying but not damaging. Use a buffer lightly to smooth the nail plate and then complete your manicure with strengthening polish and cuticle oil.
