  1. 7 Easy Ways to Fix Clogged Drain Clogged drains can be a major inconvenience for homeowners because they slow down the flow and movement of water, which can make it more difficult to do household work and other domestic chores. Worse, they can lead to serious issues like pipe damage and overflowing sinks or toilets. The good news is that clogged drain repair is a relatively easy fix-it task. Many clog drain remedies are simple enough to do, even when you are not technically adept around sink plumbing. Here are easy ways that you can deal with a clogged drain: 1. With boiling water. There are many reasons why water could be backing up on your sink, the most common of which is grime build up on the walls of the drain pipes. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to attempt clog drain removal is to pour boiling water down the sink. A small pot of boiling water can help soften grime and remove the stoppage. 2. Add salt. If pouring down boiling water down your pipes doesn’t fix the problem, adding salt (pouring half a cup of salt down the drain) before you pour in boiling water and letting the mixture sit a few minutes before flushing the drain once more with another run of boiling water might do the trick. 3. Check your disposal. There are times when it is your garbage disposal that’s causing the stop up. To check if this is the case, run the disposal and see if the

  2. action clears the clog. Inspect to make sure that it is working correctly and run water to see if this clears your clogged drain. 4. Pump with a plunger. An old but effective trick to clear drain clogs is to pump the sink drain with a plunger. This will help push out any debris and grime that may be causing a blockage. 5. Clean out the P-trap. A drain’s P-trap can be found at the curve of the drain pipe. Unfasten this portion of the drainpipe to see if there is anything lodged inside. See if the P-trap needs replacement and act accordingly. 6. Use an auger. A plumber’s snake or an auger is also a useful tool for clearing out clogs, especially in the stub pipe. If you suspect that a clog is lodged much deeper inside your pipeline, an auger is the best tool for the job. 7. Pour cleaner down your sink drain. There are all kinds of drain cleaners that are designed to help dissolve clogs in drains and restore water flow through your pipelines. Clogged drain repair and maintenance is pretty simple and easy to do when you have the right products and tools at hand. It certainly pays to have drain cleaning supplies around the house at all times so you can clear out stop ups when they occur.
